Simple and elegant. That's the final result, but for the client it was a year long journey just to get a shelf built! It started with a bathroom renovation. Custom oiled walnut vanity, check. Custom full length medicine cabinet with oiled walnut door, check. Hotel-style walnut shelf for towels... well it almost happened a few times, but each person he commissioned just backed out for one reason or another. Fast forward a year later and we were put in touch by an old friend from high school. Stars aligned, and we were able to create a beautiful shelf that officially marked the end of the bathroom reno.

The client was concerned with colour matching with all the other walnut in the bathroom, so I went straight for the Osmo 3055 Matte like it was a secret weapon and guess what... bang on! I know, it looks simple, but it's the small details that really make this shelf special. Matching walnut splines, mitered and rounded corners, epoxy filled cracks and the odd knot make a simple project shine. As always, big thanks to Woodchuckers in Toronto for having the perfect 8/4 walnut board for me to work my magic.
